welcome to the intermittently wet, well-drained, and slightly Earth friendly creation called the rain garden

4/15/09: Good amount of moisture in the ground, the downspouts off the roof of the house are working great. Little bits of green starting to peep through the Earth's surface... A welcome sight to see. Rabbits ate my dogwood.

6/10/08: Bloody hail. Hail swept through my neighborhood eradicating gardens, cars, and roofs. Needless to say, the rain garden needs mending.

6/04/08: Storm report 2008. The raingarden got shredded only one week into its infancy. A sad moment for all plants. Photos to come.

5/30/08: Also installed is a rain barrel. It basically retains water which runs off the roof of the house for future use during dry periods. Your flowers will thank you when the City says no more watering allowed.

5/25/08: A raingarden is a planted depression which captures rain water from a roof or impermeable surface. The water has a minimal chance to run into our streets, thus into our lakes and rivers (drinking supply). The plants help filter out the pollutants and the rain creates a smaller need for irregation. Win-win for Mother Earth.
