The first design meeting went very well with lots of great ideas. The main structural idea we came up with is to build the main structure to function as a typical ice fishing house, then construct a shell or skin around it in the form of a preditorial fish e.g. northern pike, muskie. The ice sticking out of the water/frozen lake could be made from real ice, packed snow, plywood, sheet metal, etc. The trick is to make the structure movable since we do not want to create a weak spot in the frozen lake with the heat generated by the structure.
The dimension we are shooting for is 6' x 8' and a ceiling height of +7'.
We were toying with the idea of creating a fish that is unseen in minnesota lakes e.g. a gaint goldfish, killer whale, but desided a local approach might be best.
Our next steps are to create a materials list and start the gathering process. |
